Pisey Sok, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Pisey Sok is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (CA) with a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and a Masters of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary. He has experience working in community mental health and pastoral ministry. His bilingual and bicultural background gave him the opportunity to serve Cambodian clients in Long Beach dealing with PTSD and vicarious trauma from the Killing Field genocide. As the son of a Buddhist minister (an ajah) at a Cambodian Buddhist temple in Oregon, he understands the essential role that spirituality, worldview, and cultural rituals plays in the healing process for his clients. His training and experience in Christian ministry adds to his depth of knowledge about the unique role faith, rituals, and community contributes to the healing process of trauma. Sok’s wealth of life experience has given him an appreciation for cultural diversity, cultural rituals, and the essential need to integrate faith, spirituality, and psychology to address the issues of trauma and forgiveness. He is trained in Restoration Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. His areas of interest are men’s mental health, couples issues, spiritual formation that promote healing, and the role of fatherhood in family and community. He and his family live in Knoxville, Tennessee where he has a private practice.
