Tammy Smith earned a bachelor’s degree in Applied Learning and Development from the University of Texas at Austin in 1990 and completed her master’s degree in Counseling at West Texas A&M University in 1997. Tammy has almost 20 years of counseling experience in various settings which has equipped her with many diverse skills and opportunities. Tammy currently holds licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas and is now in private practice at the offices of Wholehearted Counseling. Tammy’s passion is to provide counseling with a Christian World view to encourage hope and healing to those who are hurting. Her experience has provided her with the opportunity to effectively work with young adults, women, families and marriages as well as provide professional consultation and skills for parenting, wellness, and healthy self-care.
Tammy is a certified Level 2 Restoration Therapist. Restoration Therapy is a highly successful treatment with individuals, marriages and family relationships to work through unhealthy thought and behavior patterns. This model of therapy teaches awareness and emotional regulation to promote healing and new patterns of behavior for wholehearted living and healthy relationships. Tammy also specializes in treating trauma, anxiety and depression and grief. She is trained in EMDR which is an extensively researched and effective treatment of trauma through eye movement desensitization and reprocessing. She also has been trained in ACT Therapy, Love and Logic Parenting, and pursues a focus of spiritual encouragement, healthy choices and wellness in her practice.
Tammy is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. She enjoys working out, traveling, sports and time with her family and friends. Tammy has been married to Steve for over 33 years and they enjoy two wonderful children.
